The Soul Provisions
Get ready for a generous helping of soul!
Weeland elegantly weaves classic retro soul and rhythm ‘n’ blues with modern indie soul influences – very much in the tradition of artists such as Michael Kiwanuka, Khruangbin, and Alabama Shakes.
The collective around guitarist Patrick Wieland brings together five established greats of the scene: singer Esther Cowens, drummer Tommy Baldu, keyboardist Martin Meixner, and bassist Martin Stumpf. They have all worked with renowned artists such as Jan Delay, Max Herre, Max Mutzke, Cro, Roachford, and Die Fantastischen Vier.
With their brand-new album “The Soul Provisions,” Weeland presents a captivating range of emotions and timbres—from intimate, soulful ballads to rousing, groovy tracks.
Patrick Wieland impressively proves that he is one of Germany's leading musicians when it comes to transforming soul, rhythm & blues, pop, and a pinch of jazz into a harmonious and contemporary sound.
“An album as extraordinary as it is timeless, offering ample nourishment for the soul and a chance to slow down in these turbulent times.”

"The many facets that soul can have these days are brilliantly showcased here.
A most welcome sign of life from subtle soul from
Germany. In this country, one can only dream of such a level of quality."
- superfly.fm / Samir Köck, Vienna
"It's important to take enough time to appreciate Patrick Wieland's new songs.
As WEELAND, he is considered by the usually well-informed
circles to be one of the most important musicians in our country when it comes to striking the right balance between soul,
rhythm & blues, pop, and a few traces of jazz."
- sonicsoulreviews.com / Jörg M. Schmitt
"Weeland clearly has a grasp of what goes into making a real soul record. It's
obvious that he understands the technicalities, but it's equally clear that he's
aware of the more intangible elements—like passion, commitment, and feeling."
- Bill Buckley / Soul, Jazz, and Funk
